Thanks for that - do you know is fuel available on the weekends? And have you bought fuel yourself there recently because yesterday the roadhouse at Tilmouth Wells told me that the next available place for fuel was Halls Creek.....

Frances,

According to my GPS the distance is 864Ks. We will be travelling the Tanami in 2 weeks on our way to the Kimberley.

I know because we filled up there last year when we crossed the Tanami

Go to google maps and copy this in will give you the distance

-22.80895 132.60112

It is only 1055Ks from Alice to Halls and Tilmouth is 188Ks from Alice.
PS I was 3K out

Hi Frances

I recall a similar recent question, but the search here did not find it for me - you may have better luck. The question asked about distance and fuel stops, and all the alternatives were given. The longest span is between Balgo (30 odd kilometres off the Tanami) and Yuendumo (just a short way in). We have a large fuel tank and had enough to get from Halls Creek to Tilmouth Wells, but purchased a small quantity in Yuendumo to make sure. We had planned to support the then operating Rabbit Flats, but there was no-one there but a very old dog, and all was locked up when we called in.
