It is a little hard to get lost in Wauchope, it is not that big a town. LOL
Gidday neighbour.

Hi Jeff,
About 63 Km west of Cobar on the barrier Highway is the Meadow Glen Rest Area and it is good rest area. Plenty of sites without crowding and you can collect wood for a fire. We stayed there in 08. Can recommend.
No water as I remember but drop loos, such as they are.

In 07 we stayed o/night at the Emmdale Roadhouse which is a rest area as well but the surroundings are not great. It was open at that time but we were not impressed. Would not have recommended it anyway.

Cheers, Bruce

Jeff,

The roadhouse was up and running when we travelled through late May 2011. Two women had taken over from the previous owner.
Not sure about the camping.

Glad to hear it is open again and under new management.
The person we encountered in 07 seemed reluctant to sell us some petrol.

The rest area was not all that pleasant and was just a flat area beside the road and the roadhouse. Could have improved now that someone else has taken over the roadhouse. Hope so for their sake.

Cheers, bruce.
