I shot this Monday for you fine folk to see what I actually do during work!
And not long after this I was chatting to some '
Grey Nomads' on Channel 18. He was driving a Discovery 4. My father is thinking of buying one so I just asked a few questions. Moments like those I love! He and another vehicle were heading to Milstream Nat Park.
By the way The Hammersley
Gorge Rd is closed.
Enjoy!

Cheers for that Matthew.
We'll be driving to
Millstream before next weekend as it turns out.
Great to be able to see the road condition before we get there thanks.
It sure sounds like you love the area.
Regards,
Cheeky1

Cheers Cheeky1
I think next week I'm up at Yandeyarra Reserve but I will travelling
The Auski
Roy Hill again. Just a quick visit at Marillana Station.
There is a grader going east to west along this Rd so by next week it may be complete
So I might do another shot next week.
Thanks

Good onya Matty..that's the stuff we need more of on here.
We all know the saying about pictures and words.....give me pictures any day.
Can't get a better road report than that.
Now back to "work" you lucky bloke LOL
Cheers
Fred.

Thanks Fellas!
With the reaction of my first video I will definitely do more! That was done on my phone so next time I'll use my Flip video. I have some great photos too.
I'm trying to push my Boss into more swagging out nights but with our high work load it makes it hard. But that night on Mt Florence it was freezing! But we finished the job sooner and headed to stay at
camp.
Another thing... We had ample food left and at
Auski Roadhouse I decided to give the food away to some travelers. I didn't want anything in return as I didn't pay for it but the
young Swiss gave me a new, unopened Swiss army knife!! What a weapon!!
cheers
Matthew

Well done mate, what great PR for not only the
Pilbara but the Aussie outback. I'm sure those
young Swiss travellers will remember and talk about their encounter with you in the
Pilbara, long after they return
home.
Fred.

I had a meal at Auski RH in 2008 and a
young German bloke eyed it off the whole time. After I had most of it I gave him the scraps and he devoured the rest as if he had not eaten in days. My good deed for the day lol...

Joe,
I'm not sure who runs it now. I had heard that it changed hands a few times or maybe just staff/ management.
New dongas are still being put up as some mining firms still use it as accommodation. I know FMG does.
I just wish that Auski would renovate the toilets but they now have a larger dining area.

Hi Matthew,
What fantastic looking countryside. We're driving up to
Broome from
Perth with Victorian rellies during July - spending a few nights in the
Pilbara. Very excited and very much looking forward to it!
Thanks for the footage.
Mary-Teresa

Now I have tears in my eyes! What memories of Wittenoom and the beautiful gorges there, and my time working at Hamersley Station doing the mill runs. That
Pilbara country has this girl hooked that's for sure (lived 10 years there) and realise I have to find a reason to get back there asap. You or do you have any mates that are into prospecting and want to travel around with a prospecting/camping 'buddy'? Its God's own country up there Matt....

good Morning!
Sorry I don't know of anyone that does any prospecting.
An Old Aboriginal fella once told me "This is God's country, Matty"
