Hi,
I have just purchased the above 4wd and was wondering if anyone could addvise me about the keys. I received 2 black master keys, 1
grey 'valet' key and a oval shaped remote control for unlocking all the doors.
My query is is it possible to purchase another key that has the "lock" and "unlock" buttons built into it like my 2005 Prado?
I am used to the buttons being on the key and find it a pain in the .... at the moment!!! It's hard to teach an old dog new tricks.

After perusing any advice here, you might
check out/join
Lcool.....people there know the whole story on Toyota keys (but don't forget to search the archives first - the mods expect that on all queries ... fair enough :-o).

As a 200 owner can highly recommend LCOOL
forum as being the best place to find out whatever you need to know.

Assuming the 2002 Cruiser is a 100 series, they never came out with the key remotes. The part you are looking for is PZQ71 00042, it was an accessory or local content.
Don't put yourself down, i'm sure old dogs can learn new tricks, otherwise we're all stuffed!
Cheers Geoff.

Sorry Dave,
I just re read your post, the part number for the remote is what I gave you (the oval bit), if you want a second one. If you do get a second one the dealership will have to program it for you unless you have the owners manual for the remote kit with the car. These remotes you can replace the battery in.
Hope I cleared that up a bit.
Geoff

Hi Geoff
I actually have 2 of the oval remotes but the wife doesn't like them. She wants to have just the one key with the unlock and lock buttons built in. It looks like she is going to have to get used to the oval remote... Thanks though for your advice.

You can buy them on Ebay for less than Toyota will charge you.
They were $38 off Toyota when I needed a spare a few years ago .
Ask on Lcool how to reprogram one as its only a matter of turning the key on and off a certain number of times WITHIN a certain time period
Like 12 times within 12 secs.
Cant remember the exact one but Lcool will know
remote
He has 3 separate ones listed

Thanks snoopyone for the info. I am busy researching the Lcool sight now as the wife wants a key with the remote built in (like her 2005 Prado keys). Not sure that I am going to be able to sort that one out, but will keep researching.
Thanks again Dave

As far as I am aware they didnt ever come with them as all I have ever seen come with the oval one.
Be aware that the keys also have a chip in them and are pretty expensive if you lose one.
There are master keys and slave keys
Only a master key will let you get into programming mode.
So if you lose both of them you will be up for a new steering lock and ign setup Might get change out of $1000
Tell wife to get used to the oval one

MrPlod.
All the 100 series Cruisers in NZ came with two remote type keys that lock and unlock all doors (including the tailgate), plus one plain head and one
grey “Valet” key. All of them have a chip in the head. We never got the oval thing.
The remote type has a replaceable button type battery.
Any Toyota dealer in NZ could supply you with a blank. You could then program it locally or via Lcool advice.
Clive.

As a follow up Dave.
I seem to remember hearing once that the replacement keys from Toyota come blank in the key area as
well as the chip. You then get the new key duplicated off one of your originals. This could be a Toyota only service???
At worst you may have to send a spare key to NZ. Something to mention if you’re talking to an NZ dealer.
Clive.
