What condition is the road and crossings on the Old Telegraph Rd now. Going with 3 other cars. I'll be towing my camper. All
well equipped.

Hi Twinkles, the best, authoritative and most up-to-date website that I know of for
Cape York roads is
Cook Shire Council.

Thanks, I have looked at that. I was hoping for some live experience and any areas to be careful of, particularly with a trailer.

G'day Twinkles
Keep an eye on 'you tube' - folks sometimes get their pics up pretty quickly, but if nothing else, you will see most crossings and many with pics of folks towing campers.
Cheers
John

forum...

they were doing a Misers trip, where they set a limit of $3000 (not set in stone) to buy their vehicles and for fuel usage on the trip.

Hi Twinkles,
if you have a
well prepared vehicle and trailer the Old Telegraph Line is not too hard. Nolans Brook is probably the deepest crossing and the one that catches out the most people.
Gunshot has plenty of options for everyone so have a look at it, at least.
Canal Creek can be tricky on the exit. All the crossings are different.
Take your time and watch others go through the crossings, if you can. If you go up there during the school holidays, expect it to be fairly busy.
The main roads are generally in good condition and you'll find
grader crews everywhere.
Have fun and enjoy your time there. Wish I was heading up there now.
eighty matey.
