Debbie, there is a major
bridge over the Wenlock, so no worries.

G'day Debbie
Depends where you propose crossing the Wenlock. There are no bridges or ferries on the way out to
Chili Beach,
Portland Roads, and Lockhardt River.
Cheers

Debbie there is a ferry a little further north over the
Jardine River....and you will have no difficulty in getting your 4by and camper across.

Ive seen a hyundai make it to the tip. The worst part of taking a camper trailer is if you do the Tele track and you have on coming groups all towing campers wanting to get past each other on a narrow stretch. Still that aside id rather sleep in the camper than a swag like we did.

I agree have a go.....I will be taking another group up to
Cape York in mid-2012 - 6 vehicles with campertrailers. Having done the OTL half a dozen time in the past I will be running this trip a little differently. Intend camping at Bramwell
Junction for a day or 2 to explore the southern part of the OTL and them shift
camp to Elliot Falls (via the Southern Bypass) for another couple of days to explore the northern sections. After this we will motor on to Loyalty Beach (via the Northern Bypass) for another couple of days before heading up to
Punsand Bay for 3 or 4 days before commencing the trek back to southern NSW. All in all hoping to have 6-8 weeks up my sleeve overall but only about 4 weeks from Mt Garnet to the Tip and back to
Cairns.

Patrol22, are you a tag along operator? I like your itinerary. We are planning to take our by then new off road Coromal to the cape next year. That approach could suit us.

No Kevin just taking a group from my local 4WD club. I'm a former local up that way. I grew up in
Mossman and was a part of the crew that put the power through to
Cooktown back in the mid 1960 via the
CREB track. When I finished my apprenticeship I work in
Weipa for a couple of years.
