Hi all,
Just wondering if anyone can tell us what Karajini is like at the moment with the availability with camp sites? We have got family visiting Karratha from the eastern states that are looking to head out Tuesday morning.

Cheers
Rooey

G'day Rooey

The camping grounds at Dales Gorge ~ Circular Pool ~ were quite busy but nowhere near capacity.

The Savanah Camp ground tent area (up market?) were also lively, with the camping area fairly quiet, but it is always that way in the cooler weather, with lots of caravanners wandering around the region.

Bare in mind the WA school term ends on the 8th of July.

All roads and facilities in and around the Karijini National Park are OK.
The only sealed road(s) in the park are from Karijini Drive to the visitor centre, and from this entrance road into Dales Camp Ground.

I hope there is something useful to you in this lot.

Rooey,

Believe me it looks beautiful at the moment even from a distance. Actually it always does!

However last week the Hammersly Gorge Rd was closed from just past the Rio Tinto gorge. So check Main Roads for current info.

Availability of camp sites?? Sorry can't help you there but don't forget it PEAK season so a high cahnce they may be full. Maybe suss out the Eco Retreat??

Station stays are another option.

Enjoy!

Im sorry to have to say this but when we went to the ECO retreat we thought it was a scruffy untidy place and horrendously expensive for what you get.

We stayed at the ECO retreat a while ago and we found it good. Its no resort thats for sure. But the toilets and mildly warm showers were ok. At least you could book there and guarantee a spot where at dales its pot luck. When we were there there was a line up to get a spot and everyone was crammed into an overflow spot.

If all else fails the Van park at Tom Price is quite nice.

Mate, i live up in the Pilbara not far from there and was there a few weeks ago.
Its a great place for them to stop.
There are alot of travellers around at the moment. However we didn't have problems getting a spot.
Check out is about 10am or 11am so maybe best to go in their after that time as people who will be leaving have left.
I just stayed at Dales Gorge as i thought the $$$ at the "resort" weren't worth it.
Worse case ur family can go to the vistors centre and get a potluck shower (can be really hot or can go the other way also) for $2.
Me i just swam in the waterholes.
