Hi all

Planning to do the Darling River run between Wilcannia and Bourke in a few days time. Has anyone done it recently and can comment on road conditions etc. Also can anyone suggest a good place to camp along the way.

Hi Jan
I suggests you either check with SA Roads or Wilcannia Police.
I tried to do it last week and both tracks were closed.

happytravelers, We went down there 2 weeks ago for a look, We had no intention of travelling on the roads if they were closed but after talking to other travellers and talking to the people at the info centre at the Back of Bourke centre then going down to Tilpa hotel and speaking to them also, they all said it was open so off we went. ( I know I am bad) We came across a small puddle of water across the road that you could ride a bike thru. So I guess you could ring the local police and council (as we did) and make your own decision. Cheers Mick Image Could Not Be Found

Thanks for the reply and photo, we're in Broken Hill at the moment so I might check with Wilcania police for the latest.

Jon, that photo shows the only bit of water on the track. The track itself is in great order and you will have no problems at all if nothing has changed in the last 2 weeks. Hope all works out for you on your trip. Cheers Mick
