I want to put a POWERTRAX LOCK-RIGHT Locker in the front diff of a 100 series built Mar 1999 Standard Landcruiser Engine HZJ105R. I'm not sure what model I need and I'm having issues trying to get the information out of the manufacturers in the USA. We believe the front diff in the 100 series is the same as the 80 series however from speaking to Toyota they are not sure without pulling the 2 apart and comparing them.

Nobby, I believe that the front diff of the rigid front end 100 series is the same as the Hilux. The 80 series diffs front and rear are the same I think!!!

The 80 series diffs are different front to rear as are 100 series & Hilux fronts. My understanding is the 3 share the same size diff centre but use different ratio's hence the part number for an ARB diff lock is the same for all yet are not interchangable.
Nobby there is aother consideration when choosing a locker for the front end of a 100 series & that is the Landcruiser diffs are seriously weak. As lockers add more stress to the driveline it's been found an ARB locker is the strongest option to beef them up.Check on the lcool forum for specific tech info on Cruiser diffs & locker options.

43:10 high pinion is what you'll have.

80 series was 41:10. It'll fit but you'll have to change the rear diff to match.

100 series rear diff is stronger than the 80 though, so that is a retrograde step. Same can't be said for the fronts.

the 100 and 80 front diff are thesame, only ratio is diff-erent. If you want to put a locker in the front, the only one to look at is a replacement centre, as the std centre is hopelessly weak. ARB is the best option.

I just put a Detroit Soft Locker in the front of the Patrol. I got mine from Jeff at Just Differentials in the US. Very helpful chap.

Google the business name & you'll have no trouble finding him.

I'd go the Detroit Soft Locker rather than a Lockright particularly in the front. Different story in the rear.
