I know its a bit radical but I was looking under the bonnet of my "new" 1999 3.5L V6 EFI Pajero.

Oooooh!, that looks like a transmission cooler, goody don't have to fit one before I tow the van, but hang on whats this other radiator like small cooler under neath it?

Ok read the owners manual,

the first one is a an "oil" cooler, so its got a standard radiator for water, cooling "radiator" fins for the air conditioner, transmission cooler, what next a cooler for the power steering (hahaha).

Saw one for sale in the AutoBarn shop on the week end.

Apart from intercoolers for diesel what else is there for the bugs to clog up?

Bemused

I think Falcons at some point also had battery coolers. It was a duct that chanelled air around the battery.
