I have an empty 1 kg fire extinguisher which I am thinking of converting to an air storage tank. Am interested in hearing from anyone who has done it, how did you do it and is 1 kg worth the effort. Would use it for blowing out air filters etc.

I bought a Tigerz air tank on ebay for $60, is about 420 mm long and 170 dia, holds 9 litres and included air line, gauge, air fittings and mounting bolts, brackets are welded to the tank.
Not worth stuffing around for that money.

Found them on ebay, $115. By the time I run around sourcing bits and do it these would be better.
Cheers

I've got a
BCF one that was empty and as you can't get them refilled anymore I silver soldered a brass T on top of the brass fitting that came out of it and put a male & female coupling that mate to my compressor hose on it. It's compact, doesn't take long to charge and as someone stated doesn't last long either.
But I can use a dust gun if I want to, and it does make it a little easier to reseat a bead than straight compressor hose alone. I did one two days ago when playing with my beadbreaker.
I'm not in a hurry generally when on the track doing repairs so if it takes a little longer I don't care and I haven't scored a bigger cylinder yet, nor found a place to mount it.
