We are going to fit 12 volt shower system to our 80 series Landcruiser GXL with a 1HZ engine, the issue we have which one. I have done some research and have decided on 3 makes. They are Piranha, Bushranger and the Twine. We are hoping that some of you travellers have these makes fitted, and to have some
feedback to help our decision easier. All suggestions and ideas will be taken on board, as we would like to have one fitted within 2 weeks.
For those who will take the time to reply, we THANK YOU very much in advance.
Happy Travelling.

Only ever used the glind shower. Was a welcome treat after days roughing it. Worked brilliantly. Water got real hot.

I have a 12 Volt shower that you fill a tub with hot water and submerge the pump in the water. The flow rate is very average but it is better then nothing.
I am trying to locate a higher volume / pressure 12 Volt pump I have located a secondhand garden spray pump and will give that a try. It is about 10 times larger then the submersible pump.
Cheers

Have you considered a bilge pump from a boating chandlery
shop, they come in a variety of sizes and are reasonably priced

after our shower pump died I replaced it with a rule 360 bilge pump.
I've been using them to run bait tanks on boats for years and you can't kill them

Hi wayne B,
Go the bilge pump. Used one for years as the only means of a shower when we first set up here. Never lost a customer (family members) at shower time. They all raved about it.

There are many suppliers including ebay.
Just fit garden hose to outlet and shower rose to other end hang switch inside shower tent and away you go.

Hi A Team,
We have a Twine unit and it is fantastic. I chose it as it was all copper and silver soldered but be warned they all can scald if the person is not carefull.
Mine came with warning stickers but I made a change to the plumbing lines to eliminate the scalding problem, not just reduce it. I will try to find the post I entered a while ago and advise the number.

Glind shower system for us. Worked every day for 12 months over 13 years ago and never had a problem since even when the unit sat under the bonnet waiting for the next trip away.

Allan and Andrea
I did a lot of research into this and decided on a Helton.
In my opinion, and from the research I did, the three you mention and Glind all appear to work ok but are primarily built to a price in comparison to the Helton.
Helton has different models and make units with a larger thermal transfer area which I wanted. The prices are comparable , even cheaper and the construction is much more robust. In addition they will custom make them to your requirements.
They make a shower unit which is like the others mentioned, and a hot water unit which is much hotter and a bit bigger.
Take a look at them too. It looks like they put more money into the product than in the advertising.
Usual discalaimer. No interest, just chose them after a lot of research and a specific need to have all inlets and outlets at one end and hotter than normal for my 200 ( which has a low coolant temp).
If you don't have specific needs and the coolant is hot then they will all probably do the job though.

Hi Allan and Andrea,
There is a portable 12V bilge pump 25L shower unit advertised in the Explore OZ
classifieds section which looks really good. Look under camping supplies. I know the guy that makes them and it is a high quality unit.
