Crossing the Simpson

We are planing a trip from Coober Pedy to Oodnadatta then up to Mt Dare and across the Simpson to Birdsville

My wife wants to take our 10 week old Jack Russell pup with us. How strict are the dog regulations at Mt Dare and Dalhouse parks.

Thank you for your advice

Any dog smugglers out there. LOL

Cheers
WB

Dogs are not allowed in the National Parks. As far as I understand it they are OK at Mt Dare- they must be, Dave and Mel have a dog.

Re: dogs and simpson crossing
I rang the SA Parks to confirm and she said yep no dogs and the fine is $250. I also found the National Parks and Wildlife (National Parks) Regulations 2001 which states you cant:
drive, carry chainsaw, camp, light a fire, use a boat, generator or metal detector, swim, dive, walk in a cave, sandboard, rock climb or disturb the soil/ dig a hole in a National Park unless they say you can.
All these carry a fine. It makes me mad that some one seems to be able to tell me how i experience Australia.

Cheers Tony

There wouldn't be restrictive rules in place if everyone did the right thing. We pay for the actions of morons unfortunately. Everyone should operate a facility that includes a public toilet at some time in their life and be responsible for cleaning it....it's a real eye opener on how the public act. :-) Mike

I dunno, a dog on a lead under control shouldn't cause too much grief.

Hi Wilko
Planning on leaving Newcastle 4th August.
Travel across to Coober Ped then across the Painted desert to Mt Dare

No sure if we will be able to cross the Simpson due to water. We may go in the French line and if we have to come out on one of the other tracks if we cant get to Birdsville.

Cheers
