Hi,
I am thinking of getting a porta potti.

I believe I have room under one of the seats but am concerned of smell. Thisseat is not fully enclosed.

Where do people store their dunnies and do you find any smell whether chemical or worse the other :)

Hi Richard,
I don't have a smell problem, but then again mine don't stink.

Cheers Ken

Sounds like you need to visit a GP and get your nose fixed :)

Use it properly and it won't smell. Use napisan (home brand) and you will not need any fancy chemicals.

You do not explain the rig it is to be carried in but I have seen them transported in special boxes on the drawbar etc.

Alan,
I have an offroad caravan. Not a big one, just a bed and a couple of chairs at the end of the bed.

The only place I could store it I believe is under a seat.

I don't think it would fit in external storage compartments.

A box on the draw bar would be a good idea , may also be able to store a generator there if I had one.

I had a canvas bag made for ours.
It's got a zip off top, and fits all the chemicals in it.
Looks after any possible smell or spill in transit - neither of which we've suffered.

We store ours under the bed in our T van while travelling, use the chemicals as directed and we have never had any issues with smells of any type.

Many thanks for the replies,

Good to hear of no stink.

One reason we did not get a van with a toilet is that we did not like the idea of crapping (am I allowed to write that) where we sleep.

However after a few trips and having to do the middle of the night run to relieve the pressure the idea of a porta potti seems worth considering.

Once again thanks,'

Murray,
I would be a bit uncomfortable sitting on a shovel though
