After reading many threads, and receiving the advice of many to our own questions, over the week-end we have upgraded our visitor status to becoming members. With about two years of planning behind us, tomorrow we leave
Melbourne on the first stage of a trip around Australia which we anticipate will take about twelve months. We are travelling in a Nissan Patrol towing a Jayco Sterling caravan and from time to time will put the caravan into storage and take the tent. We are heading first to
Canberra and will then take the
Mitchell Highway heading to
Longreach. So thank you to all of you who have helped us over the past few months - we may get the opportunity to meet up along the way.

Welcome to
membership Kiwibound (eventually lol).
Don't be too hasty to take to the tent in
Canberra. The current temperature is minus 2.7 degrees! Brrrrrrr. Glad I'm in Queensland.

The tent will stay securely packed up until we leave
Port Douglas and commence our trip to
Cape York. No
free camping for us near
Canberra - we think we will ensure we have a power site so that the heater and perhaps even the electric blanket can be used! The warmer weather of Queensland is very appealing just now.
