G'day everyone
This is a quick post, just to let any one intending on visiting the Karijini N/P gorges. There was a full scale muster of the
Tom Price ~ State Emergency
Services ~ for the rescue of a
young woman who had a serious fall deep down at Handrail
Pool, a couple of days ago. It was reported that she had severe back injuries including other superficial injuries.
Tom Price SES took around two hours to muster and arrive at the incident site, then after the set up of equipment and subsequent rescue, the patient would have endured several hours of pain in the bitter cold of the night.
Turns out she was "bashed, broken and bloodied" buy the fall but will make a good physical recovery ~ again volunteers to the aid of someone in distress and possibly putting their lives on the line.
Today its raining steadily in the east
Pilbara region and it rained right through the night, all unsealed roads/tracks are closed, so I can only guess that there are many travellers out in the back blocks ~ sitting it out ~ for a few days at least.
Please think before you act, because help could be a long, long way away !!

G'day Matthew
I hear what you are saying and you know where I'm comming from ~ but sadly far too many people along with their plans come undone in a huge way ~ simply by not thinking before taking the next step.
Plenty of people dive head first into a
waterhole and come up smiling ~ but there are some who regret the head first dive ~ forever.
As magnificent as the
Pilbara and the Australian outback is in general , for those that just don't think, this magnificence becomes a real "Nightmare"
I notice by your "sign off" words that you have left the
Pilbara.
Matt ~ the
Pilbara will never leave you !!

Afternoon Joe,
I haven't really left the
Pilbara as my work & HEART are still there. But every second week I'm in the great land - The
Pilbara!
I just wish I could again reside up there! Got a girl and had to move to
Perth.
Take Care Joe
Matthew

Good advice Joe F, but how many of us do think before we act, if only everyone would follow that rule..........

G'day Dunworkin
Good advice is only "good" if someone actually follows the advice. I'm not in anyway trying to force anyone to "toe - the line" but I guess if you give some thought to what is perceived a simple task or action ~ you might just not get hurt doing that simple task.

The first step is to get over the "it won't happen to me" mentality.
Cheers

Went to Karijini in May.
Have had a desire to go back there and walk in those gorges again.
Awesome place.
