Hey guys,

I have trawled the threads but can't find anything related to this issue. I recently had the engine out on my 98' Pajero (petrol), and after it went back in, everything is running fine but my oil pressure guage is going stright to max and staying there, even when key is on but engine is off...... any ideas/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.....

Try the pajero club of Victoria web site. Every model is covered & there is a public forum you can view. Good luck

try unplugging the oil pressure sender with key on. If it falls back to zero the sender is faulty, if it stays up there is a wire fault somewhere. This isnt Pajero specific but most if not all electric gauges work the same.

hi howard
sounds like you may have shorted out the sender wire during the engine job check to see its not damaged enroute somewhere under the bonnet

I agree. The sender connection is either shorted to ground or disconnected.
Some gauges go up when disconnected, some go down and the reverse when shorted.
