Just require some advice from those who may have encountered the same issues. I am trying to insure my Wrangler JK with Allianz. Over the past few weeks I have tried in vain to explain to them that my vehicle was purchased New from a dealer as a hardtop (no soft top). The Hard top was fitted and the soft top was in a cardboard box in the back of the vehicle. The dealer took the Soft top back and replaced it with a Tow Bar. Allianz will only insure it as a softop, with a hard Top option. I have a tow Bar, Bull Bar, Winch, Satellite Tracker and 50 mm lift. I have disclosed all these points but they do not appear on the policy. Allianz tell me that they are noted on their computer. One amendment states that the vehicle is Garaged but the amended policy states that, the vehicle is On Street Parking. All I want is a policy that states what I am paying for. If they cannot send out policies that are right, how can you believe that you are covered for what you are paying for. Has anyone had the similar problem. Steve.B.....

Computer says Nooooo!

Perhaps you need to talk to another insurer? But sadly all their online systems now seem to plug into the same vehicle database, so if it says softtop for one it will likely say same for the others. I use AAMI and their online policy renewal / quote system allows me to specify most of this myself, particularly if you select "other modifications" you get an expanded list which covers most common 4WD mods and additions which are then listed on the policy I get back. Some affect the premium, some dont.

G'day Steve, I think I would be asking for a screen printout of your policy.

If they don't want to do that, just ask to speak to the manager of the department.

Keep on going higher up until you get some correct answers.

Steve,

As Dave said.
I was insured for many years with AAMI and specifies all my extras and mods. Had two windscreen claims with no dramas.
When I started using the vehicle for tours and changed the rego to business use AAMI wouldn't cover me and I had some difficulty finding an insurer. Allianz did quote but NRMA got the business on price which was pretty expensive in any case.
As the vehicle is not being used for tours any more I'm thinking of moving back to AAMI.

Never used them, but in researching them came across this "review" site. Suffice to say I am looking elsewhere.

http://www.tcis.com.au/html/fourwheel_index.htm

I joined a 4WD club and these brokers organised everything for me, cover me anywhere and off road as well.

Your conversations will have been taped and you can fall back on them if need. They have to keep them for quite a few years.

Insurance compamies are like butchers or bakers. If you do not like them there are plenty of other choices. Try a broker and specify what YOU want.

Know what you mean - some insurers will send you documents that contain all the detail and extras discussed on the phone with their staff. You can only assume that those that persist with leaving all that detail unacknowledged a. have a stupid quoting system or b. Don't intend to pay up on those extras if you have a loss (or both).......you can get it right if you waste enough time ringing round :-o) - crikey - you might even do that and end up with a lower $ quote !! Insurance is a very 'tricky' industry.

Thanks everyone for your help and replies and help. Signed up with Apia as I am over Fifty???? Covered me for everything, Offload as long as it is not competition. Saved $300.
I got more sense out of E.O today than I got from the Allianz in a week. Cheers Steve.

I had a lot of problems with Allianz on similar grounds - that is variation to vehicle. They told me time and time again I was covered......! I could not get them to send me anything in writing, they insisted it wasn't necessary. The insurance was supposed to cover windscreen replacement (front and rear) as part of the deal. Then when I claimed.... they had no such record and refused payment. So if they are going to argue about a windscreen, I can't see them paying out on anything else... They can't be trusted, so I don't use them anymore.
