I've got a 93 Hilux that has a VN commodore v6 conversion.
Has anyone done a
snorkel fit to this configuration? If so or if not, anyone have any advice and/or recommendations on how best to do fit one.
Currently I have the VN airbox sitting in the same position as the old lux box but it's not drawing from in the guard. The air intake is too hot I am thinking and perhaps a coolerair intake would help with fuel economy, power and for the odd shallow
water crossing.
any ideas?

mate sounds like it will be a custom job, or do a google search, i have seen something which might have being a custom one. or try fitting a modified landcruiser
snorkel, get one from wreckers and modify that to suit!!!!

i presume the old motor was the 2.8d ? If so i would just fit up a safari
snorkel as per instructions except when it comes to the internal fitment, would be a mattter of using some pvc piping fitted n glued to the airbox n you would obviously have to block off the original oblong shape inlet on the vn airbox, i would use sickerflex on all the joins and the blanking plate on the airbox along with some pop rivets, probably pick up a second hand safari off ebay more then likely, you can get some flexy rubber piping to suit, great conversion the v6 lux, go
well and still cheap to run and like to rev out which is good in the sand n mud ........

it was the old 22r 2.4L motor. Gutless really, and on lpg was near useless (except on soft sand for some reason, gas was excellent)
Thanks
Kimba, good info there, pretty much what is in mind atm.
I am just putting it out there to see what others have done to theirs. Custom job no doubt, but not @ $900 as quoted by a supposedly reputable 4x4 accessories co. who supply safari snorkels.
I don't need a fancy looking one, just one that works.

not sure if the petrol has the airbox on the left, next model petrol and diesel are opposite sides.
On Ebay you can get a
snorkel for $2-300. Dont bother spending $500 on an ARB one. Fit it yourself, its not hard at all, a jigsaw with a fine blade and carefull cutting will do it
With the plastic ones they cover over the hole anyhow.
Go to your local AG
services place and buy some flex air intake hose for about $20 and run it through the guard.
Took me about 3 hours to fit
mine, fun once you've made the first hole!
Believe me-pay someone else to do it and it'll be the first year apprentice doing it with a hangover with the stopwatch ticking-you can do better than that.
Be aware though that the V6 com in hilux is a notoriously hungry beast especially if the gearing isnt right, so there may not be a miraculous improvement there.
Have a look on 4WDaction, overlander etc, they are more specific on repowers etc.
