Anyone know of a supposed rat plague, along the
Birdsville Track, or have people just listened to some yap yap in a pub, and everything has been blown out of proportion ?
I know there has been mice everyehere, but rats ?
That is a whole different thing
Just checking, and may
well chuck in a tennis racquet, and old mr Bentley than.
Been told that they are all the way up to
Cape York ..
Cheers
Bucky

Bucky,
we had a very big rat plague here at work (between
Boulia and
Mckinlay) around Xmas time for a few months until it started to cool. Hundreds upon hundreds trying to play superman down our shafts.
The rats are still around and I see at least 4 or 5 a day. We are told they will be with us for the next 2 seasons. They are not afraid of humans and just walk along in front of you or walk around your feet. The rats are native Australian long haired rats.
We have enough 2 legged rats here without getting 4 legged ones.
Have a good one,
RA.

I drove the
Birdsville Track last week and yes there are rats. Camped about 150km out from
Birdsville and had holes eaten in the bottom of my black wolf tent that night. all night I could here rats around and on the tent. Late in the afternoon and at night you could see them out of their burrows.

We were at
Innamincka last month, lots of mice and a few rats. Didn't come across any in the Flinders though.

Buckmeister,
just got back from the area. Plenty of rats about the channel country (Donohue), a few around
Birdsville and
Innamincka but not a real nuisance.
Cheers Mick

G day Mick
Don't really care that much, but SWMBO will be bellowing, and since she 's got what I want, I have to try and help a little.
SO what's the idea of playing Aussie ambassador ?
Have a good time mate ?
We head off in 8-10 days, to the Cape, via
Birdsville,
CLoncurry, and
Normanton.
Will be in
Cloncurry about weekend of 5th August, and get amongst the ;ocals for the Rodeo ... That will be a blast.
Cheers Mate
Bucky
