Hi all, need to find a GOOD mechanic down here. Seem to be spending a fortune on the car and just keep getting ripped off. If anyone has a recommendation I would like to hear it. Have been to four different establishments so far. Someone put me out of my misery. Ta. doc.

Hi Brian-no the problem(s) are ongoing-that is my beef.I'm actually living down here - not in a cvp. I have been to 4 different mechanics with different issues and it always ends up the same-I pay their bills, take the car home- it still has a problem and I have to fix it myself or take it back to them or to another mechanic. Honestly- I am so fed up. It took the car to one place 3 times because of an oil leak. They kept saying it was oil left over fromt the oil change they had done a few months before. In the end I had to crawl under the car and point out where it was coming from- the oil filter that they had installed. They then proceeded to change the filter, said it was faulty and they would claim warranty from the filter manufacturer- and charged me full price for the job!. Same thing when the radiator leaked. Four trips to the same mechanic until they could find the problem and fix it.Third mechanic - had the car all day. I rang at 4 pm - they said hadnt started the job yet. I said leave it I will pick the car up and bring it back another time. When I got there 15 minutes later they handed me a bill for the ' service" which they say they had completed. 48 hours later the car broke down at the shops- due to an ignition problem (which I had asked the mechanic to investigate). Took it to another mechanic who said the computer showed over 70 faults on the ignition ring. This proved to me the previous mechanic had done stuff all and billed me for it. The saga goes on and on and on.Sorry to rant on a bit.If I didn't need the need the car for work I would sell it and take taxis everywhere.!(not that the car is a real problem- I just need to find a mechanic with half a brain and a concience)doc.

If you get to Perth try the Myaree branch.

Thanks for the suggestions folks. If I had more time I would take it up to Perth. I don't think it is really past its useby date- 2004 and only 110 on the clock. I just need the service work and repairs done properly. Its times like these I wish I had trained as a mechanic and not a vet! ta, doc.

Hi Oz doc,

I have used P and D Auto repairs at 16 Stone Street as my mechanic for a number of years now.
Never had a problem with costs or work completed.
Paddy Catalano owns the business and is pretty straight up.
I have sent other people in for work and they seem quite happy as well.
If you know the Bunbury Opp Lock store if you face the store P and D's is about 50 m to the left.
ph 9791 6300.
hope this helps.

Regards AL

Hi Oz Doc, give these a try if not already done so. Bastows Mechanical or P&D Autos. Both are small operators and have good reputations not keep up.
tell them Hutchy recommended them. Good luck.
