Tyres for a 1994 Corolla 4WD Wagon (a very soft-roader!)

I've had a lot of help on my Hilux queries but I'm wondering if anyone out there can assist with info on tyre size(s) that suit for the 1994 Corolla CSI AE95R 4WD Wagon.
The car currently has 175 70R13 tyres on it but I've been told by another owner that they should be fitted with 185 70R13's. The rim size is 5Jx13. Unfortunately the tyre spec plate is missing from the door of the car and I've been unable to get a definitive answer from a Toyota or tyre dealer as to which of these is suitable, or if in fact both sizes are OK. I've also drawn a blank on the internet.
Any input will be appreciated.
Thanks Poitr

Thanks Kimba, you are absolutely right, thats what the Redbook says. However, its definitely got standard rims on it and the tyre size is R13. The mystery deepens

Wouldn't be the first time Redbook has got the rim size wrong.

I've just had a look at Carbuddy and it shows the rim size as 5J 13.
Its not getting any clearer.

Poitr,
You need to figure out if it will fit in the garage after you lift it and decide now if you are fitting roof racks? From memory, an oz tent is longer than a Corolla so that bit shouldn't be a problem. Are you getting lockers?

Hey Skull, I get do your drift.
However, believe it or not, the ability of telecom to roll out their upgraded network in Tassie during the 90's was on the back of these little treasures. They are tougher than they look (which admittedly, isn't very difficult).
Actually, I'm a bit more concerned about getting diff breathers than diff lockers.

I used to have a 1990 Corolla 4wd Wagon SR5. Fantastic vehicle for what they were. Probably used it on tracks etc that were a bit outside its design range but it never once broke down.
Got it accidently "airborne" on a hilly track over a contour bank i didn't see and it left a nice dent in the fuel tank! (sender would never quite indicate empty after that) drove it across creeks and rivers in central west nsw when i used to chase trout with the water once nearly up to the bonnet.
Changed the timing belt at 100 and 200k and besides the clutch change at 278k, suspension refit and a set of extractors when the exhaust manifold cracked did all the maintenance at home. (the workshop that did the clutch took 3 days on a hoist and said they would never do another!)
They must have had heavy duty clutches as 2 of my friends had them and both their clutches lasted over 250k.
Sold it to a work friend for his son's first car and it's still going strong nearing 300k. I sold it when i got my 80 series but i miss that car.
Mine had the Sr5 factory alloy rims so not sure the tyre size would be the same, have seen them with steel rims. Will ask Barry at work for the tyre size and get back to you.
