A friend has a Suzuki Vitara Grande diesel, 1.9 Turbo, with ball weight of 85kg. What size caravan can she tow. Been making some enquiries tonight and getting conflicting responses.

Thanks in anticipation.

The vehicle specs should list the max towed weight.

The web site lists 1,600KG with 75KG ball weight or 2,000KG with 150 KG ball weight.

We had a 2006 petrol Vitara and soon found thatnall we could legally tow was a Coromal 401 back door job by. Had heaps of fun towing everywhere. We eventually upgraded the vehicle and van after we learnt about the setup to suit us.

Russ

If they purchase an Australian design of caravan it will have a ball weight of around 10%. This will limit the van to a total weight of 850 - 900 kg. Tell your friend to look for a van that has a figure of no more than 900 kg ATM on its compliance plate.

If he is looking at a European van then it will load up with around 7% ball weight. n that case, tell him to look for a van with an ATM of no more than 1200 kg.
