As said, not for everyone but we enjoyed it, been twice. Some of the things we saw, a close encounter with a Dolphin, many close
views of Stingrays, prints in the sand from newly hatched Turtles, Dingoes, Bentang cattle fighting, a huge
Turtle which swam by everyday, Black Tip reef Sharks,Croc's in the sea and their tracks on
the beach, millions of Hermit crabs on
the beach and a very close call with a big black snake. If available pay the $ and do the trip to the
Victoria settlement. Re the cast net, if you haven't used one before, buy a 7 or 8 foot Nylon one, the cotton ones are better but are to heavy for a novice. Learn how to use it BEFORE you go, if you don't have anyone to teach you try you-tube, look for shallow sheltered bays where it is calm, the tide will also dictate when the fish are around. With a little practice you just might catch enough to eat without even wetting a line! I never needed to go waist deep, only up to or just above your knees. Make sure you AND your spotter have Polarized glasses and don't use the net near weed, just clear sand, that way it is very easy to stay safe, any dark patches or shadows get out! our friendly
Turtle and passing rays had me out of the
water on several occasions :-)
Take your time on you way in,leave early if tide permits, stop and enjoy the
views of the streams you cross, toward the end it becomes windy, slow down and enjoy the
views of the only inland palm forest I have ever seen.
Cheers
Lyndon
