I have recently purchased a 2006 jeep grand cherokee CRD. The vehicle tows well and so far I am happy with the performance and great economy. However I now have to carry my 70kg 3.75 Tinnie on the roof. I went to Rhino to have a boat side loader fitted but they don't want to know me saying that the roof is rated at 68Kg and the existing roof rails are too far to the rear of vehicle. My question is, does anybody out there carry a tinnie on the roof of their 2005/6/7/8/9 grand cherokee. I would appreciate any advice. Thanks in advance.

Regards Kevin

kjd,
If someone selling Roofbars or boatcarriers will not sell one to you for because he says your vehicle is not suitable, I would tend to take his advice, he's just talked himself out of a sale.
He probably doesn't want you to come back complaining that your roof leaks, has bent or otherwise damaged your vehucle because you ignored his advice.

Be thankful that he was honest enough to advise you against rather than just selling you the product for the money involved.

Just my thoughts.

Disco.
