Jan w1 - we were down that way in February this year - went down Cooma - Bega but came home via Pambula - Wyndham - Cathcart to Bombala and this was the better trip for us, Three vans in our group - next to no traffic on the sunday morning.

We actually turned off after Cathcart and went directly to Bibbenluke - bit rough but not too bad.

Hi there , i live at Bega - travel to the snow and to cooma often - the route is up to you and your capability ( and car )

Me i have nissan Patrol - have had to tow my 2.5 tonne boat(23 foot) from cooma to home Via snowy mountain Hyw - and down brown mountain ( trailer has break away system brakes - pneumatic over hydraulic) done the downhill in 2nd all the way down to avoid having to over heat brakes - not many places to pull over to let traffic build up past you but if you take your time - ignore the build up behind you ( not feel pressured ) then this way is fine

- this snowy mt hyw is pretty un eventful once you leave cooma - pretty flat and open - brown mountain can be a challenge this time of year as it can snow from Nimitabel to brown mountain ( half way down ) wet conditions or fog can also be a challenge as its approx 10 km of downhill coming to bega

or you can use the alternative route - for me -- easier coming down brown mountain - and maybe using the other route coming back out of the valley rather than the 10 km climb and heating motor

When you get to Eden i would stay at the Garden of Eden Caravan Park. One of our favourite parks. Clean, tidy, nice surrounds
