hi wilko
thats a great invention /and the system will work and you should be able to turn on the fuel flow from the auxillary tank before the gen is started providng there is no excess fuel return pipe from the genie to main tank from a pump fed system
which would require a return line to auxcillary tank to stop build up of excess fuel in main tank
which could/might cause back pressure in main tank

but if the fuel from the main and auxillary tank is only drawn by vacumm it will start drawing from aux tank as soon as the genny is started and use the fuel in the main tank last
i had a honda gen a few years ago and cant recall if it had an excess fuel return line from carby to tank but provided they are only vacumm fed this will not be an issue
if i had a genny i would buy one of those units
not trying to confuse anyone just my thoughts based on many years of dabbling with these sorts of things on tractors and 4wd's during and since my farm life

Unless you wanted to run it right through the night, why would you bother ,
how hard is it to top up the tank every few hours ?
