I have a Codan NGT with an EB-1 Advanced Channel pack supposedly installed. I am leade to believe that this provides me access to UHF. I am unable to seelct this from the handset as only swithces mode between USB and LSB.
Can anyone please advise.

I believe that is for the old 27MHz CB frequencies like I had on my old Codan. The NGT will not operate on UHF frequencies.
cheers

Thanks Alastair I would have hoped my supplier knew this when I requested, but obviously not.
Cheers

Yes, the Codan NGT has access to the old 27 meg AM channels.

Hi coomesplo
Yes there is a device for a Codan NGT HF that allows it to communicate with VHF and any
UHF radio.
It is called a Codan 3031 Crosspatch that fits to your NGT and extends VHF and UHF beyond the horizon.
If you go to www.codanhf.com.au it will explain this in detail.
Not to be confused with USB and LSB.
I suggest you call mobile comms and get the info you require from a technician.

The 3031 Crosspatch doesn't give the NGT VHF/UHF capabilities. It is a simple patch that lets you use your handheld UHF to access the NGT while away from the vehicle. Could be a handy addition for some. You still need a separate UHF transceiver be it fixed or handheld.
Per the Codan site ...
"Codan’s leading edge 3031 crosspatch is an effective and affordable solution to extend a VHF/UHF network’s reach beyond the horizon. By connecting the 3031 Crosspatch to a Codan NGT transceiver, you can carry ‘HF on your belt’ while you’re away from a base or vehicle using a VHF/UHF handset."

No. The original poster was led to believe that his NGT would give him access to the UHF network. In other words he assumed that he wouldn't need to get a separate UHF transceiver, but would be able to communicate with other UHF users (trucks other road users etc) just using his NGT.
What the 3031 Crosspatch does is give him access to the HF network while away from his vehicle - using a UHF handheld. Of course if he has a UHF handheld then he can use it to access the UHF network anyway, taking into consideration the distance limitations of the typical handheld UHF.

Thats fine ... It is a shame that whoever sold him the NGT didn't explain all this to him in the first place.

Thanks for the insight all and yes it is a shame as what I asked for was to be able to communicate to UHF as well as HF. Interestingly the supplier has not returned my emails however the invoice states it has EB-1 Advanced Pack installed.
