Just on the news, they are going to place a full time care taker, marked sites, charge fees ect now at Tomato island ....
Bit odd as it is not accessable in the wet and i for one did not think it is needed.............
Anybody got any more news on this ??
Cheers
Joe

the
ranger usually hangs around there all the time in the dry anyway.... Mind you, some of the people who are regulars there, think they own the place... lol.. (:

good point, i have called in and got some looks like i have driven on someones front lawn, maybe they are trying to put a damper on the "squatters" that basically live there and turn it back into a "campground" for all ..

Tomato Island is on the
Roper River in Limmen NP (Nathan River Road) in the NT; it's mega popular with regulars going there year after year. A little information

Recon that
Towns River is a much nicer
camp for a week or three.

Agree, but others go to Tomato Island for the
boat ramp and the fishing.

Yeah Fred , but
Towns River also has a
boat ramp [unless its been washed away/removed] and the fishing is just as good seeing as less people chasing the same fish ,, as an aside ,in 08 while we were there a
young fella had his small boat [10ft punt] in the water and tied up to the same spot every day /night ,he had a couple of pig dogs as
well , dogs would follow him down to the boat every morning when he was heading off for the day fishing and then the dogs would return to
camp , on the 5th or 6th morning goes down to the boat as usual , a 14ft green lizard sitting and waiting IN the boat , no more fishing that day and no more dogs anywhere near the water.
