Coober Pedy to Oonadatta

Advice Please.
I will be traveling from Coober Pedy to Oodnadatta.
The track turns left at Mount Barry and goes through Acrabringa. The track rejoins the original; tract near Cramer Bore where it crosses the Arcabringa Creek. This is the way the Ox explorer Treck takes you when you down load the PLT file. Is there any reason the treck makes this detour, more to see perhaps ?

Can I go straight up the original track and cross the Acrabringa Creek at Raspberry Creek Bore. Is this part of the road open.

Thank you

Hi Wayne

If you go that way, you will be able to see the Painted Desert, otherwise keep on the main track. The Painted Desert is well worth the detour if you have not seen it before.

Have a Great Trip

Ok thats fine, I want to see the Painted Desert. When I downloaded the treck for the painted desert it had that detour in it. I did not realise that is where the painted desert actually is.
So that is what the detour is, thank you for your advice.

Leaving Newcastle Wednesday.Nyngan, Broken Hill, Woomera, Coober Pedy, Oodnadatta, Dalhousie, Birdsville, Innaminca, Camerons Corner, Tibooburra, Bourke Nyngan and home.

Really looking forward to it.
Cheers

Wayne,

Have fun. Spent about 4 nights at Archaringa Station staying in the Dongas in May and did day trips to the Painted Hills. A magic place.
