Just received a phone call from friends who are planning to travel the Kidson Track (west to east). They are presently in Broome & would appreciate any info on road conditions.
I would like to hear from anyone who has travelled this route recently.
Cheers.

Vince, the Kidson (or WAPET) Track sees a lot less traffic than most so it's really only affected by weather. Tumultuous rains will cause erosion here and there and in some places the track is getting closed in but overall it's a very comfortable drive and one to be enjoyed at a slower speed. The eastern end around Lake Auld is that which can be most affected by water so check the rainfall in the Telfer area on the BoM site.

Here is my blog for our trip on the lower half in 2009 and also a bit of video which may give your friends some idea. If they go to my vimeo page from about page 4 or 5 on, there are stack of clips from the lower sections of the Kidson around Lake Auld.

Up the Kidson Track

Cheers Mick
