Hi Western Rich,
Have travelled the
Marree Mt Dare road twice in the last three weeks it is a little bit rutted in
places but with care it will be ok and the graders are currently working on sections of these roads. The
Birdsville track is fine with some corrugations around the
Cooper Creek punt loop.
Cheers

Gidday
Travelled west to
Wiluna on the Gunbarrel two weeks ago. From
Wiluna to
shire boundary east of
Carnegie the road is good to excellent. You will have trouble keeping the speed down on some sections!
Beyond that any 20km section will serve up the full gamut: some corros, some broken rocky bits and some washouts ... even the odd short good section. But nothing that is not easily negotiated with care and attention. There are lots of diversions around some of the worst corros and washouts. it is a case of take your pick which track you follow in many cases. Which one is best is a gamble!
There was a lot of water in
Mungilli claypan and a diversion around the south end of it, looked magnificent the day we passed.
The country seems in good nick to my uneducated eye, tall spinifex, quite a lot of flowers and some big flocks of budgies around
Geraldton Bore made a spectacular sight.
it was a great drive, I hope you enjoy it too
Cheers
rocco

Completed Gunbarrel Hwy/Old Gunbarrel Hwy from
Wiluna to
Erldunda early July.
Agree with rocco2010 on condition of track, not difficult but most enjoyable when travelling at moderate speed and with common sense.
Fuel ULP (Opal) use fron
Wiluna to
Alice Springs 347 litres in 2004 Prado.
Fuel prices:
Wiluna - $1.89/l,
Carnegie Station - $2.60/l,
Warburton - $2.30/l,
Curtin Springs - $2.15/l,
Erldunda - $1.91/l and
Alice Springs - $1.63/l.
Have a great trip!
Cheers
