hi everyone
i had an encounter with a bush turkey and it broke the driver side mirror on a SR5 hilux 2002. Where can i get a replacement short of going to Toyota where i was quote $365. I taped it to come home but we still have 2000 k to go.
Once i can get one is it easy to replace by myself.
Thanks ahead.
Cheers
Gerry

Hi Gerry,

Broke one on an 80 series a little while ago (stick got flicked up and smashed it). Like you I was appalled at the cost of a Toyota original so got one from eBay. Bad move. It fitted up OK, but was nowhere near as solid as the original and almost unusable due to the fact that it vibrated (wobbled) the whole time; really annoying and a bit dangerous. As the saying goes, you get what you pay for, well sometimes.

So just be careful if you go down that route, need to look at what you are getting.

Cheers,

Matt.

I believe there is a little hole in the bottom of toyota mirrors that you can insert a tool and tighten them up.

Saw it on a forum somewhere but cant remember which one.

Ask the question on LCOOL someone will know

Thanks mate. Car now sold, but I did look for that kind of thing and couldn't find a way of doing it. Sometimes after market parts are fine, sometimes not worth the effort. Just got to work out which is which.

Cheers,

Matt.
