If it was manufactured prior to 1990, which I believe it would be . . . they don't have them. They weren't required legally until 1990 in 4wds. had the same issue with my 1990 Pajero.

Only "legal" way is to get one fitted at an Authorised Fitter, which will include an engineers cert.

Silly . . . but true.

You can get a bar that fits across the back that the restraints fit to, I have one fitted in my 40 series which has being removed resently when I had a new engineered seat fitted. Its for sale if your interested very cheap ($25.00) although I would recommend you get it professionally installed......Dazz

Yep as BJ42TURBO says, a bar is indeed fitted across the back. Just forward of the wheel arches below the window frames........if that makes any sense. This places the bar just under the height of the back seat. As previosly stated its only legal if fitted by a pro."Slow and steady wins the race."

I had the same problem with an older F100, after visiting a couple of places, the general rule was to do it yourself our pay a fortune, don't get me wrong, l am not a cheap skate when it comes to my childrens safety, l spent $300 on a seat and l wanted it fitted properly, any way I was advised by 3 different places to drill a hole, then drill a hole through a metal plate and attach the plate under the hole in your car and put the bolt through and tighten it up, l did this and with the help of a friend pulled on the strap, jerked it, twisted it, pulled it in the opposite direction and it would not budge and l was satisfied, but it is your call!

Stuart, its not the mounting point thats the problem . . . certainly not in mine. It was the rear seat itself. They weren't designed for the crushing forces of a child restraint in an accident.
