Hi all,
The question as asked many time before is : I want to upgrade the
suspension with a 2" lift as
well on my NS Pajero (original
Suspension still). I will be picking up our new Cub Supermatic Drover Off Road Camper Trailer at the end of the month, which has a 970KG unladen weight (elec brakes fitted) and run Bridgestone 964 LT AT on both trailer and 4wd. I am thinking of either Koni,Bilstiens,or old man emu(gas) with maybe polyairs/firestone's on the rear. We are planning going to The Cape next year or maybe across the Simpson (no trailer) with many mid to mid off road travels as
well, nothing extreme. Can someone steer me in the right direction ! when you look there is so much available. I'm sure all you 4wd's ( Adventurer's) out there will send me in the right direction
Thanks to all in advance
Tony

This gets asked about every second day over on the pajeroclub forums Tony. Consensus from experience is that the best combination is Lovells HD springs, Bilstein shocks and poly-airbags for the towing. The Lovells will have to come from Australia but some awesome deals can be had on the shocks and airbags if you buy them in from the US of A. Try $530 for a set of B6 Bilsteins to suit from truckspring.com. They are nearly double that locally.
The 2" lift makes a huge difference to the Paj's off road ability and has scant effect on the handling.

One other thing to mention - I have had the above combo for over 200,000km. While researching replacements both Lovells and Tough Dog suggested that the Bilsteins were the top product available.

Opinions are really like bottoms...everyone has one.
For what its worth here is my setup and am 150% happy with it following trips into Outback SA, Victorian High Country and other off road adventures towing a TVan.
OME
Suspension & Springs giving a 2 inch lift and Polyair airbags for when towing and fully loaded.
That's all on an 07 NS Diesel and can only recommend highly.

Hi Tony, For what it's worth I set up my NP with King springs I had load sharing or progressive in the rear to take the weight of a heavy off road camper. Before choosing shocks & springs I phoned tour operators & 4WD w/shops I asked which brand of shocker, springs & tyres did they use and in their opinion which was the best. The results were. SHOCKERS: Bilstien. Koni adjustables & Old Man Emu. SPRINGS: Kings Lovells & OME. TYRES. BFG. T/A I have an NT with a 2" lift and have the latest OME set up with load sharing springs in the rear. I tow a 1700kg Camper. ARB will supply progressive springs if you ask. I think Kings supply ARB & Lovells supply TJM but I am not 100% sure. The ride around town when not loaded, whilst firm is good & after two years I have not had any problems. I do not use air bags. I hope this helps.

Tony I did the lift and spring bit (NP Pajero) and got it wrong it was great when loaded on a trip but once
home unloaded it was like riding in a car with solid
suspension. So I have had them removed now and put it back to standard.
So don't worry about people saying this has been done to death, you are doing the right thing research it and get it right. Because I wasted my money and got ripped off.
Cheers

Tony I was towing a cub supermatic regal off road trailer and did the Cape last year. Also have done the Simpson with stock
suspension.
No problems at all. Just once all the gear was removed (39 litre frig, tools, cooking gear, recovery gear , cloths ect.) it was real harsh to ride in. When the long range rear tank was full it was a bit better. I let the air out of the air bags inside the coils to the recommended lowest pressure but it was still too rough a ride. So a progressive rate spring would be better in my case I just went with a recomendation from my machanic and fitted King springs and didn't really reseach it at all , and should of did some more homework.
Cheers
Scoof . :-)
