Stan

I would tend to be guided by Yamaha Australia. They probably know more about their product than anyone on the forum.

Also, the warranty may be voided by not complying with their recommendation.

If you aren't taking any notice of Yamahas answer, why you heed advice from here?

Did Yamaha say to use their semi synthetic oil, or just to use to synthetic oil?

Hello I use FUCHS GT1 Proflex 5W30 which is a fully synthetic oil in my 3.5kva Sin wave Genset. I have done over 60hrs in it. I change the oil after every trip. There is no sign of wear or debris in the oil. As long as it meets the OEM requirements it should be fine. EG: ACEA C3, ACEA A3/B4 or API SM. Good luck..

hi stans truck, We have ef6600 yamaha generators in commercial aplication that have 7000hrs on them and they have only ever run on mineral oil, straight 30. My own yamaha ef1000is has done in excess of 1500 hours on straight 30. We were told by the japs they were desighned to run for 700 hours, not 7000. good oil, regular changes, no probs. I would never put a synthetic oil in it. I am biased, cos i am a yamaha generator dealer. In our workshop we use valvoline oil in them as yamaha never marketed a straight 30 oil. cheeres mm
