If you're like me and don't like the heat then stay away. However I did once travel the interior on a 12000k trip during Feb but found solace with the vehicle aircon.
It will be hot to very hot 40cI may be mad but I'm not crazy

thomo,

You are looking at daily temperatures 40-48C and nights of around 30-35C. Not a pleasant encounter but if you are up to it, then do it. Meself? I hide in the cool of my stone house in summer.

Cheers,
Willem

The Lake Eyre region is pretty flat and bleak. The only way to appreciate the beauty of the actual Lake is from the air (William Creek - Marree - Oodnadatta - Coober Pedy scenic flights). It can get very windy (little vegetation - no hills) and extremely hot. I've driven through the region a few times in winter... I like that area.... but with those zillions of flies that are most likely to be there ..............I'd find another place to go in January.
Why I am here looking at this screen ?

There's a memorial to a German tourist who did the trip in Jan a few years ago. If you drive from William Ck to Halligans Bay you'll see it. His partner survived (she didn't try to walk back to William Ck).Bob
