I am Fitting LED spots to the rear of the roof rack as work/reversing lights and am contemplating how to get the wiring out of the cabin and onto the rack. Was thinking of running up the side pillar of the patrol and out onto the rack that way. Dont really want to drill and grommet the roof.
How have other solved this? Any pics would be great too thanx.

took
mine from under the bonnet and followed the
snorkel (via zippy ties) to the roof rack. Been ok for 10 years. Heavy wiring for 3 solar panels. No issues.
Why would you put spots on a roof rack?
cheers

That grommet was already there.
You can buy them at Repco in the 'grab' packs, I think the brand is Champion.

Bonz,
I stuck my inverter inside the dash where the passenger airbag would have been if there was one.
I was concerned about cooling in such a confined space so I added a 12v fan I ripped out of a computer power supply at one end held there with some right angle mechano bits from my toy collection!!!

Hi Mr "B", I have 6 lights on the roof rack, work lights and rotating, and I ran the wire up through the
snorkel from under the bonnet, drilled a neat hole in the bottom and sealed it, and another right in the top and mounted a flat pin trailer plug up there.
Its then just like a trailer from the roof rack, a distance of about 300mm, and I can also get rack off without any wire work.
Many people over the years have had to walk up and have a look at my
snorkel to work out whats on top haha. Do you need some one to come a use the drill for you? :)

FYI I have beeen uctting and slicinf and planing and drilling for two days and no injuries, but if you'd like to come help that'd be great!
maybe email me a
pic of the trailer wire connection etc at the top of the snork please?
Thanx mate

i did
mine from a switch on dash hooked to high beam to the engine compartment and to a loom i made with other wires in it under the car inside some poly pipe and to the box on the back, in the box is a seconardy switch with relays/fuses ect that draw the power from 2 "second" batterys on the tray, the pos and neg run up the tray and from tray to roof rack to lights .............
Does a few things for me, they never can be operated unless on high beam, they can be switched off in the cab and also in the "box" making it impossible to switch them on unless you stop and get out and flick the switch, once on in the "box" it can still be turned off in the cab but still will "dip" when on low beam, they draw off the rear batterys that charge whilst engine is running ....
Cheers
Joe

Nice setup Joe, I wish I had the tray to rack access you have, but mines a wagon. Like the idea you have with spots on the rack to the high beam thats how
mine are setup, but these are going to be rear facing and reversing uses. All the best to you guys!
