I've noticed over the last month or so that there are more and more instances of really really slow load times for
home page as
well as
forum and all other pages.
Now I appreciate that all servers have their crook times (I administer a couple of sites myself) but it seems to be more and more frequent.
Initially it seemed to be in Google Chrome only but now Firefox and IE are just as bad.
Other sites load just fine so it's not a problem at my end.
Is anyone else having these issues?

Mate,
I am having the same problem with a couple of sites and this has been happening about a month.
I have an apple so it is not isolated to MS programs.

Hi Gone Troppo
My computer has scarcely coped with EO for a couple of years or so now and it keeps getting worse. After the last major upgrade it came good for a few hours, then worse than ever. I have to click twice on a thread - first click it has the box with green lines at the bottom of the screen running but it then goes away and i have to click again. Going back to the
forum on closing a thread is just as slow. If you watch the line at the bottom of your screen (i am using IE8), you will it it loading dozens of things like media.sensis, ads.rtbidder, ads this and ads that, evereststads, ExplorOz this and that - takes for ever and gives my computer a headache. Other forums are quick and easy (with no advertising). Another site slowing down for me but not as bad as this is the Yahoo West Australian News - loading adverts slows it down, but not as bad as this. With Firefox, you should be able to use an add on to stop all adverts - try it and see it it makes any difference and let us know. I don't know whether it could be my virus scanner checking all those things as they download and slowing it even more. My computer is nothing fancy or modern.

Taking ten to fifteen minutes to get here, make a reply and get back to work :(

Geez Motherhen, something doesn't sound right on your computer, are you running Norton or Mc Afee? I have always had problems with those virus scanners, slowed my computers up no end but not as bad as yours.

Hi De
I run AVG free and have had success with it as a virus scanner, although the latest version slows down a Google search. Norton can cause problems. Considering my computer (or parts therein) were probably made before all these graphic adverts were invented, i think that the ads are the problem.
For some reason, EO is usually much easier to work with in the morning than in the evening.

I use AVG as well and have had no problems with it. It sounds like it could be the ads, some of the news sites slow mine up terribly and I'm using a fairly new laptop.
Cheers D.
