We're in Boulia at the moment. The idea is to take the Plenty Highway, and then the Cattlewater Pass to Ruby Gap NP. On the NT Road Reports website it says that the East MacDonnells 4WD route is "closed between Plenty Highway and Gardens Road Intersection". Unfortunately I can't find the Gardens Road Intersection on any map. So, is this Intersection on the same road as the one I want to take?
Thanks,
Marcel

Marcel,
I would say they are refering to the 4WD track that heads south from Gem Tree. The Gardens Road intersection is about 39km south of Gem tree. The cattle water pass road is about 20km west of Gem Tree and heads approx south west to Arltunga. Give me a short while and I'll put up a mud map for you.

Here is the mud map. The 4WD track mentioned is the Green Bars passing through Gem tree.
