I think speed is a factor depending upon the amount of traffic around at the time. Both from your won server and the server where the site you want to access is stored.
I have ADSL (Bigpond) and it goes from blazingly fast to slower than my old 56k modem setup when accessing virtually the same sites (including this one).
Not much anyone can do about it ... apart from everyone staying offline when I am on. Nah!!! don't think I will get that one through .....
Cheers

However a great number of electrons were terribly inconvenienced.

Truckster, could not get through at one stage last night- at all, (Friday) 10.30 EDST, error messages and got through to where I normally got apart from her. Have had error messages a bit lately, not just here.

Of course dialup for a country lad.

G'day Truckster,
I am on dial-up and have been experiencing slow connection speeds and frame freeze ups on this site for the past couple of days. I have noticed that it depends on how I access EO. If I go through Google and plod my way through every frame starting with exploroz etc then I do not have troubles. However when I access(also through Google) www.explorox.com/forum I am likely to have problems. I have also noticed that after answering a post and I use the back button I have to go through a series of windows to return to the forum. I am not very clever with these things like you young fellas so have to sit here and take it on the chin. I have a separate line for my internet connection through Telstra and although I live only about 300 metres from the exchange my dial-up speed is only 44,000bps whereas my regular phone line is 52,000bps. Telstra informs me " You are lucky... we only guarantee 19,000bps"....Such is life.....I put all of these troubles down to the server Bigpond and other factors.....Patience is a virtue....hahahahaha!

Cheers,
Willem

Always going somewhere
