Review: ExplorOz Windscreen Sticker

My Shop Item Rating: My Rating 4/5

I like it, but could we do these with an opaque background as an option so it could act as a top of windscreen sun shield?

Thanks for the suggestion, we have received this question before, and looked in to the possiblity, however we believe it would then be viewed as an "obstruction" and be classified as illegal in most states.

I haven't checked out the regs, but if oldcoolone is correct, I don't see the problem. The sign would be outside the sweep of wipers. It would only come down as far as a sunvisor but should nicely cover the gap around the mirror and also mean it would enable the sun visor to be across the side window if needed. Example a winding road going more or less into the sun when protection is needed as the sun moves actross winscreen and side window. This is when I find I need either two visors or a shade across the top of a regular screen. I reckon a case could be made for them being a safety aid rather than the reverse.

Hi Mike,

Thanks for the follow up, and sorry for the delay in response, I can certainly look into it again, as it's been a while since it was last suggested. Hopefully I'll be able to sort something out in the near future.

You are allowed to put tinting across the top of the windscreen provided it doesnt come down more than 150mm OR into the area the wipers sweep.

Thanks Snoopyone. If that's the case , it should be possible to make the sticker so it also acts as a shade. Perhaps have two, one transparent, the other not for the benefit of those who have wipers that go to the top of the screen?

Here is the QLD reg for windscreens

Windscreens
Tinting may be fitted to the upper portion of a
windscreen of a motor vehicle. The tinting must not
extend lower than a horizontal line connecting the
uppermost points of the arcs swept by the vehicle
manufacturer’s original wiper blades or the upper
10 per cent of the windscreen, whichever is the lesser.
The tinting may be of any shade but must not have
a reflectance of more than 10 per cent.

Most windscreen stickers are illegal, you can not have an obstruction within the sweep of the wipers.

Thanks everyone for all of that information, it certainly makes it easier for me to get the product development started. I would say we would be able to do something along those lines (a tinted windscreen sticker) when we order our next lot of windscreen stickers (as this means we would be able to get them all manufactured at the same time). Unfortunately, this will be a while away as we only just ordered a large amount of the current white and black stickers, but we will definitely keep this project in mind for the next order.
