Great Central Road

First time poster. Just did the great Central Road in a Volvo XC90 towing a camper trailer. First stop was Docker River and was a bit dodgy so not sure what it would be like staying there. Stopped at Warburton for the night and was pleasantly surprised. Basic facilities but everyone was friendly and the camper kitchen was not bad.

Our first real trek off the beaten track and we were a bit worried about what we would find. The road was great, considering. There were some serious corrugations at times but only for short periods. The rest of the time the road was pretty good. Did 1 tyre (sidewall gave way) so would recommend taking two spares. Managed to drop one of our spares off the trailer (my fault) and had to go back to get it.

We originally planned to take 3 days but made it easily in two.

Recommend it for anyone who is looking for a short cut to Yulara.

It can be an easy trip, but you need to keep an eye on the weather. We had to drive though very muddy roads when going east a few weeks ago, found out later they had been closed behind us but we were already on them - it rained while we were bush camping. Has some ~30kms of roads like this..

Were the first vehicles to get to Laverton when returning West after they re-opened the roads.

Here is our blog of the trip if your interested.

Ah yes. Only if it's dry. Saw some parts of the track had been under a fair bit of water at some stage and would have been difficult to get past. I'll have a look at your blog.
