Hi all,

I am currently looking at getting a EPad 10" with built in GPS. Can anyone that has one comment on there performance?
I am not interested in the IPad as I am currently in China and if the EPad does the job well then I will be getting them for the whole club. Good prices if you shop direct!

Cheers

Cheers for the link.
I will have it plugged into my car so no issues with the battery. As I am shopping with a local I can get a 10" epad running 2.2 android for $110.oo. Hence thinking of giving it a go.

A couple of things to consider

Does it have a socket for a external GPS aerial ?
What is the display like in Sunshine ?
What is the maximum memory card size it accepts ?
Is the display a good high resolution for the size, ie large DPI ?
Is the CPU fast ?

Cheers

Hi Pointyhead,

Built in GPS but does have 2x usb
Screen seems ok and you can get the protective screens as per IPads to cut glare.
Memory size is very good due to inbuilt and card memory + usb thumbdrive if needed
Resulution is also high (dont have the specs on me)

Is it running Android and if so what version? Should be good if it is. I don't know any tablets that have an external GPS antenna but none I've used have needed one. I have an iPad and wife has an Android Samsung...both are fine. If you can get car windscreen mounts and chargers over there then get them. Buy extra and flog them on eBay :-) Mike

Hi Craig,

Have you had chance to give the tablet a go yet? Just wandering what mapping software you're using, and how well it works in real life.

regards,
Kelvin

Hi Kevin,
Sorry for taking so long to reply.
The tablet works a treat in regards to does what it is suposed to do.
Did have some issues with some of the software I wanted to use. In short I have passed it on to a collegue.
I have since obtained a windows 7 tablet for $200. Its running a full version of Win 7 that I had to supply. Its brilliant have been using it for two weeks. Its running Ozi explore and MS office 2010.
The 10" monitor mounted using RAM mounts is brilliant for navigating in the car.

Hi Craig,

Thanks for the reply.

I was looking at a 10" tablet running Android and using the new Android Ozi, is that what you had issues with? I'm currently in the UK, but will be moving to WA once my house is sold so want something I can use here and in Oz.

Looks like I might just have to spend a bit more money :-(

Regards,
Kelvin.
