'06 Patrol Doors

Does anyone know how to adjust the passenger doors and the rear door so the door light doesn't come on everytime i go over some corrogation? two of the doors seem too easy to open, and the rear door just bangs away on rough roads.

thanks,

John

Tighten up the strikers on the pillars as they probably have worked loose.

You will see by the dirt under them where they should be.

Snoopyone,

i am not quite sure what the pillars are, but if they are the 'U' type that is bolted on the wheel arch, then they are as tight as anything. i had to get a breaker bar with a phillips head on it to loosen them. but after loosening them, i didnt see anywhere to make an adjustment.

When you shut the doors the locks clip over what looks like a piece of U shaped 3/8 rebar usually held against the pillars usually by two countersunk bolts which have a security socket head on them. They are normally adjustable inward and outward.

The Pillars are the bits that the dors hang on A. pillar front doors
The one the back doors hang on the B pillar. THey could also be worn where the clip in the lock grabs over them when doors are shut.

snoopy1,
my 3/8 rebar does not move inward or outward, and they are not held in place by any security bolts. only philip head screws. i already tried turning the rebar 180 deg but that didnt work either. could it be a trip to the wreckers for parts?

Try searching herehttp://www.patrol4x4.com/forum/ It is a common problem especially the rear barn doors. I found with mine if I slammed them fairly hard there was no problem. Some people have glued a piece of rubber where the light button strikes.

Cheers Dave.

Hi Desert Storm

I had the same problem . I did try and adjust it (many times) but had no success. The the dash indicator would flash as well, and the electronics sometimes prevented me from locking the vehicle. I ended up disconnecting it

cheers

I had that issue on the road to Cape York a couple of years ago, simple fix, get a large self adhesive pad and stick it where it contacts the switch.

G'day cookie1
That would be a quick fix to stop the dash light coming on but I think my problem is mechanical as when the door is shut, I can push it from the outside and still get movement.
