New UHF radio has low transmitting signal volume

You have no problems with your new radio. You will find that this will be the problem you and everyone will get when a new 80 channel radio communicates with an older 40 channel radio.

They on the other had will have the opposite to you and have to turn their volume up on the old 40 channel radios.

If you are only communicating with people using the 'old' 40 channels I think you can turn it to wideband (40 channel) instead of narrowband, which the 80 channels are... I am looking at buying one and found the instruction manual on the internet - it shows you how to do it there (I was concerned about the compatability between the 40 and 80 channel UHF's).

Anyone know how fast the trucks are moving to the 80 channel system?

Just wondering how fast the take-up to 80 is and whether I should be upgrading sooner than later, or if I'll be right for a while yet with the old one.
