Hello all. Just returned from a week camping on the
Murray River between Yarrawonga and Cobram. Had a fantastic time showing a couple of Pommy friends around the local area. They spent two days each way driving from the
Gold Coast to get there and back! Plenty of sun to be had and fishing done. Had to drive to the fishing spots as the river was closed to fishing between Yarrawonga and Tocumwal until December 1st. Good excuse to go for a drive and charge the batteries. Also managed to hone my damper cooking skills (thanks Melissa for the recipe), and hardly anyone else to be seen the whole time we were there.
One thing put a dampener on the trip. Where we were camped was just back from the river about 15 meters, there was a picnic table there which we set up a tent on either side of. Half way through our week Shaun, one of the Poms, found a discarded needle in the dirt just next to the table. We had been walking around the
camp bare foot all week as normal and throught that broken glass would have been one of our biggest worries! Don't have any kids myself, but just proves that a good look around the
camp site before setting up might help find any potential nasties that could ruin a holiday if one of the kids (or ourselves) did step on it.
Ok, time to go and unpack the car.
Wazza.

Hi Wazza,
Glad you enjoyed the recipe! As a parent of a
young child, discarded needle are something I worry about. Before letting kidlet loose I always have a good look around the playgrounds/sandpits, beach and along the waters edge when swimming. Sign of the times I'm afraid!

Yeah Mate,
I'm a cranky old Grand Pa and make sure that my grandkids all have shoes on when I take them camping. Even when they are swimming as we had a rather bad experience with glass once. My grandys now are given those reef walkers type aqua shoes when we
camp. Just to avoid those little nasties.
Mum and I even wear them.
