I have a 99 xcab hilux 2.7 petrol making squeaking noises whilst going around corners. At first I thought it was the
suspension as most leaf springs squeak to some extent. But on further testing I have figured out that the squeak only appears on right hand corners ( never on left). There does not appear to be any oil leaks from the diff or shockies. Does anyone have any idea on what it might be or what I could do to isolate the cause?

out to be the bonit catch a squirt of lubrication on the catch solved

Hi Davo
My 2002 dualcab hilux had a similar problem. Took ages to find squeak that only happened on left turns when braking. Turned out to be a lower wishbone bush. Tightened the retaining bolt and applied small amount of silicone spray. Squeak dissappeared and never returned. However numerous other squeaks and rattles show up from time to time but I am beginning to believe that this is typical of all Hilux's.

Torsion Bars are renowned for squeeking, try a little graphite spray at the ends or similar.

Is it happening at full lock, as I have an older model and it is the stops on the steering hitting and rubbing on the "knuckles" behind the front wheels. When these are new they are plastic coated and this wears off you can replace them but would get expensive after a while. So I just apply a bit of grease to the stops on the lower( I think) swing arm and is good for a couple of months. Hope this helps.

I had similar noises, same model yr etc etc, just b4 the shocks gave up the ghost - mind you tho the leaking oil did cure the squeak ; )
