Yunta SA
Has any one used this road lately and what is the road like
Also looking to go up via
Mildura to
Yunta
Is there a short cut either from
Renmark to
Yunta or from silver city hwy to
Yunta missing
Broken Hill
I have Patrol Ute
well set up and not worried about dirt
Just looking to go up via a different route as will be coming back via

Mark, the road from
Yunta to Arkaroola is generally in pretty good condition. You won't have any worries along there I don't think.
Mildura to
Yunta you could turn off the Silver City Highway at the
Loch Lily turnoff and go that way, but it is quite a slow trip with quite a lot of gates.
cheers
Dave

I used the
Yunta to Arkaroola road about a month ago and it was in very good condition and was quite comfortable at 80 km/hr. I don't think there has been much rain since then so it should be fine.
You can certainly work your way across from
Renmark to
Yunta but it is not a trip I have done yet

HI David,
We are going from
Broken Hill to Arkaroola in early October. If we can manage 80kph, how long would it take from
Yunta to Arkaroola?
I am trying to decide if we
free camp somewhere between
Broken Hill and Arkaroola, rather than pushing things.

Hi Gary,
It is 300 km from
Yunta to Arkaroola. It would be best to allow 5 hours for the trip by the time you slow down fro creek crossings etc. There are a number of good bush
camp sites between
Yunta and Balconoona. I tend to
camp at Balconacana Ck (about 20km past Frome Downs station) but there is also a more extensive site on Moro Ck a bit further on.
Just remmber to
check for rain before you travel - things change very quickly with 15 mm of rainfall and the track could be closed.
Enjoy,
David
