How terribly sad is that? What a massive let down for the poor people - yet again it has me wondering why there isn't some kind of caravan building insurance similar to when you have a
home built when you are spending that kind of money. It seems like there is no protection.

Indeed. I can't at all see why said builders cannot be forced to comply with the relavent laws. Car builders have to. The buyer is (generally) not an expert on all things legal and so relies upon the builder to ensure that the van is all good.
